Don’t you just hate technology?

Don’t you just hate technology?

I wonder if Ernest Hemingway’s typewriter would burst into flames just
as he got to the bottom of a page. Or the end of a book.

Probably not. Sadly, this is not the first time that Brian’s laptop
has gone black just as he was about to finish a comic strip. So, until
we can sell enough ads to buy our little Hemingway a new typewriter
(and no, we’re not selling ads yet), we will continue to have days
like these.

There, there, Brian. You can draw it again tomorrow. Tears are not
good for that keyboard.

John’s laptop, on the other hand, hasn’t locked up since

Look, a blog post!

Today the Brian and John comic is 18 months old! Happy sesquihemothennial, us!

Jen is, right now, collecting the first 18 months of Brian and John
into a handy paper booklet that you can carry with you anywhere. These
non-electronic books were all the rage back in cowboy times, and you
can read them while you’re doing anything. Even driving! More details
will follow when we have a release date.

Since we have been woefully remiss in revealing the winner of our most
recent caption contest, here goes: We love them all. You are all
winners.

Honestly, it makes more sense if you think about the caption contest
as a fun thing for everyone to do. So we have started calling it the
“caption experience” to help allay any sense that there can be a
winner and a loser.

Oh, and the one from Pulp Fiction was clearly the best.

No comic due to illness!

Comic Readers:

Sadly, Brian’s entire family has been sick with yon Swine Flu, and
hence the delights that we had in store for your holiday weekend will
have to be late. Super late. Like, a whole week probably.

It seems as though an online comic cannot function without both its
writer and its artist. Who knew.

In case you are wondering, we all had a fine Thanksgiving except for
the pox. We wish you the best holidays imaginable, and promise to
return when the family is well again.

-John

Button Men on the iPhone!

by admin on October 20, 2009 at 7:59 pm

Dear readers, we are happy to announce that one of our favorite games
has now reached the iPhone. James Ernest’s award-winning dice game,
Button Men.

Full disclosure: one of us is James Ernest.

Button Men is an awesome little dice game, and won the 1999 Origins
Award for Best Abstract Board Game. (Apparently “Abstract” modified
“Board” and not “Game.”)

Now, obviously, it’s time for you to buy an iPhone. If you already
have an iPhone, you’re in luck, because now adding Button Men will
cost you only $2.99.

If you don’t know what Button Men is, look for details (and keep
checking back) at www.buttonmen.com, or visit the old fan site at
www.cheapass.com/bpu.

If you do know what Button Men is, then go buy it right now and then
tell all your friends.

Self-promotingly yours,

Brian and John.
